Great Game, Great Battle Against a top team

Best game of the season witnessed today, The backs were running and passing the ball beautifully , our defence was the best I had seen all season.

First half we spent the first 15 minutes defending in our 22, tackling was superb and we held out South Gower runners time and time again, South Gowewr were very strong at the ruck area so we had trouble getting our hands on the ball.

When Gower threw loose passes thats when we capitalised and pressured them well resulting in knock ons, When in possesion we looked excellent the forwards were controlling the hard yards well and the backs were flowing well, it was a very tight first half Gower gowing into half time 5-0 up

Second half was pretty much the same but as Vardre had the slope of the field with them we seemed to make a lot more yards and started to play in the Gower half....15 Mins into the second Half the break came we won a scrum on the half way line, William Ginn picked up from 8 and went blind beating the opposition flanker and number 8 but also sucking in the Winger and scrum half, he went to ground it was quickly recycled by TJ Evans and out to Calum Thomas who stepped inside his number 10 and used his speed to beat the full back to score a beautiful try.

5 mins to go and Vardre were 7-5 up unfortunately we lost our Captain TJ to a neck injury and had nobody to replace him as a result  we couldnt hold South Gower out and after conceeding 3 penalties in a row a great kick to the corner flag and a rehearsed back row move from the lineout saw the Gower flanker going over in the corner.to make it 10-7

In the dieing minutes of the game we couldnt make any inroads towards the tryline for the win and a good steal at the ruck saw South Gower frantically kicking the ball out of play to take a win

Very proud of the boys pushing one of the top teams in their age group all the way today, South Gower coach said it was the hardest match they had played this season which was nice for the boys to hear

Man of the Match today by a country mile was Tj Evans, a great captain who lead from the front, he secured most of the valuable possesion we had and without him im pretty sure we would have seen very little of the ball a huge performance slightly jaded with a neck injury near the end....get well soon TJ
